"What is Jeopardy?"

Since March 30, 1964 there have been over 9,400 shows. Created by Merv Griffin, the idea for the show actually came from his wife, Julann.

Recently I tuned in during the middle of the Double Jeopardy! Round. There were two guys and a lady.

The guys kept answering question after question, buzzing in before the lady and racking up thousands of dollars. Think she successfully buzzed in only once while I watched.

Ever felt like that lady?  No matter what you do, someone is faster or does it better.

You buy your sweetheart a charm for her Pandora bracelet. At a party that evening, one of her friends shows off her new bracelet charm: a large, diamond-encrusted thing of beauty. And you feel small.

Or you get yourself looking gorgeous for date night out. At dinner you run into a classmate of yours and your sweetheart's – and she fits into something you can't. You feel like the ugly duckling.

Time for the Final Jeopardy! Round. Each guy had over $20,000. The lady, less than $4,000.

Host Alex Trebek commented on her chances of winning. Even wagering everything would leave her far short.

Her question was correct. Her wager a meager $2,000.

The first guy's question – incorrect. His wager left him with only $1.

The leader, with over $22,000, also had the incorrect question. His wager – around $20,000.

The lady who had less than 20% of what the guys had to work with won.

She didn't lose heart – she didn't focus on the guys – she didn't quit.

She persevered and saw the stars go down in flames.

You may think your attempts to be romantic are meager and small.

1) Don't quit.

2) Don't compare yourself with others.

3) Keep trying.

Maybe, like the lady on Jeopardy, your perseverance to keep romance alive in your relationship will pay off and your romance will outshine the "shooting stars".

This week's romantic idea.  

Purchase a little gift for your sweetheart and 6-12 roses.

Remove the petals from the roses and create a path of rose petals from the front door to where you’ve placed your gift.

Let your sweetheart "discover" the follow the rose petal trail to the little gift.
